Bush in Africa: Warm Reception

When TV pictures show President Bush‘s Africa trip — a five-nation tour scheduled to begin today — many Americans might be surprised. His welcome is likely to be warm, and genuine.
Though Bush is unpopular at home and in much of the world, in large part because of the Iraq war and perceived superpower bullying, Africa is mostly an exception.

The Pew Global Attitudes Project shows African countries dominating the list of those with high approval

for the USA, including Ivory Coast (88% approval), Kenya (87%) and Ghana (80%). Compare that with Turkey (9%), Argentina (16%) and Germany (30%).
