Merv Griffin, 82, a veteran talk-show host who created an empire of entertainment businesses, most notably as producer of the long-running game shows “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!,” died Aug. 12. He had prostate cancer.
Mr. Griffin’s death was announced in a family statement released by his company and on its Web site.
